Roman Painted House - New Street
An exceptionally well preserved Roman hotel with intact wall paintings and hypocaust under-floor heating.

The White Cliffs of Dover NT - 2¼ miles (part steeply uphill) or by bus then 1 mile
A magnificent coastal site of chalk downland at the top of the cliffs looking out over the busy English Channel.
'Gateway to the White Cliffs' Visitor Centre with spectacular views. Coffee shop. Picnic tables. A 2 mile walk along
the cliffs takes you to the South Foreland Lighthouse (see below), leaflets are available from the Visitor Centre.

South Foreland Lighthouse NT - by bus to St Margaret's Bay then ¾ mile
This Victorian lighthouse is a striking landmark on the cliffs. It was the first lighthouse to display an
electrically powered signal and was used by Marconi for his successful wireless telegraphy experiments in 1898.
