Otford map A village with many historic buildings including remains of the Bishop's Palace. The grassland and woodland of Oxenhill Shaw (¼ mile) are managed to encourage wildlife. There are many footpaths, including the North Downs Way National Trail (passes station) and the Darent Valley Path LDP (½ mile). It is about 2 miles from Otford station to Shoreham by footpath and there are good views if you climb up the North Downs Way north east from Otford station.

Otford Heritage Centre - ½ mile
Otford's history, including a model of the medieval Bishop's Palace. The story of local aviator, Percy Pilcher, the first man in England to fly a heavier-than-air aircraft. Local walks leaflets and other tourist information. Tel. 01959 522384.

Otford Solar System - ½ mile
A scale model of our Solar System built as part of Otford's Millenium celebrations. The Sun is represented by a 303mm diameter dome and each planet by a scale engraving on a flat disc in its scale position at midnight on 1 January 2000. Note that Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are at the west end of the village! Further information is available from the Heritage Centre (above).
