The Saxon Shore Way LDP crosses the River Medway at Strood, passing near the station, and continues to Upnor Castle.

Upnor Castle EH - 1¾ miles (mostly along the Saxon Shore Way LDP)
An Elizabethan fort built beside the River Medway to defend the warships and dockyard at Chatham. There are good views across the Medway from the Castle and from parts of the walk to it. Tel. 01634 718742.
