from a fortress to an elegant stately home. It is the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.

South Foreland Lighthouse NT - by bus then ¾ mile
This Victorian lighthouse is a striking landmark on the cliffs. It was the first lighthouse to display an
electrically powered signal and was used by Marconi for his successful wireless telegraphy experiments in 1898.
