An early 18th century school for the poor, now the National Trust's London shop and information centre. Tel. 020 7222 2877.

Guards Museum - Birdcage Walk (¼ mile)
This museum is at Wellington Barracks, the headquarters of the British Army's five Guards regiments. Displays depict battles in which the Guards have fought. Other exhibits include uniforms, medals and paintings. Tel. 020 7930 4466.
Open*: Daily 1000-1600, but closed on some ceremonial days.
